Andreessen Horowitz has led a Series A round of approximately $870 million for TypeSafe AI. The deal, announced October 9, 2026, values the San Francisco startup at $7.5 billion.

For context, the company only came out of stealth on September 15, 2026. Most startups spend their first month fixing the website. TypeSafe AI spent it multiplying its valuation.

From seed to unicorn-plus in under a month

The timeline is tight. At its stealth exit, TypeSafe AI announced a $40 million seed round led by DCVC, at a post-money valuation of about $200 million.

Fewer than four weeks later, a16z stepped in with a Series A priced at $7.5 billion. That is a leap from a nine-figure valuation to a ten-figure one inside a single calendar month.

The catalyst was the company’s first model, called Jev. A launch video for the product went viral, and Jev reportedly passed one million users within days.

Adoption has since moved well beyond curious developers. Jev is now used by around one-third of Fortune 500 companies, according to the research findings on the round.

TypeSafe AI was founded in 2024. Its leadership team includes CEO Diogo Almeida, CTO Erik Gafni and COO Sasha Sheng, whose backgrounds span OpenAI, Google Brain and Meta FAIR.

What Jev actually does

Technically, the model executes what the company calls typed questions. These are queries with a structured, predictable output format, designed to plug directly into software rather than into a chat window.

Put plainly, the output is meant to be consumed by code, not people. A program can ask Jev to make a decision and immediately act on the result, without someone parsing a wall of prose first.

Jev delivers outputs with latency under 100 milliseconds, which is fast enough to sit inside a live application without users noticing a pause.

The model is also positioned as cheaper to run than general-purpose large language models.

Co-founder Diogo Almeida has pointed to the speed of adoption as the driver behind the funding momentum. He said the uptake sparked interest from enterprise executives and developers alike, which in turn drew investor attention.

Why investors are paying up

The appetite does not appear to stop at the Series A. There is early investor interest in a potential round of more than $1 billion, at a valuation above $10 billion, following the Jev launch.
