Patrick Witt, the former executive director of the White House Crypto Council, has finally come forward and addressed the news of his exit from the current administration, saying he plans to stay focused on supporting US technological innovation in the private sector.

Witt offered a long-form statement on X, where he shared his thoughts about his stint in the administration, praised some high-level figures within the administration and showed his optimism about the future of the US crypto sector.

"It's been the privilege of a lifetime to serve in this administration. I've been the luckiest guy in the world for the last 2 years," Witt said in his post, describing his overall experience.

The remarks came not long after the White House announced on Oct. 14 that his temporary stint in the Crypto Council had ended, therefore making his tenure as its executive director effectively over.

Crucially, however, the former official declined to share what exactly his new job is, saying he will give more details in the near future.

"I'm super bullish on America as we enter a new golden age of technological innovation along many fronts," he wrote.

Moreover, Witt stressed that his departure from the administration is not going to affect his larger purpose.

"I'm so grateful to have played a role in unleashing American innovation while in government, and I'm looking forward to continuing that mission in the private sector!" he said.

Significant crypto achievements

Witt noted the crypto-related policy achievements of the administration, especially the passage of the GENIUS Act and progress on the CLARITY Act.

In his statement, the former crypto chief expressed his gratitude to his former colleague David Sacks, who was the former AI and crypto czar at the White House, for his leadership and mentorship.

At the same time, he thanked SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, CFTC Chairman Brian Quintenz, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and some lawmakers for the support they have provided in shaping digital assets legislation.

According to Witt, the efforts of all these people have been vital to achieving Trump's vision of establishing the US as the world's top crypto hub.

"With regulators and elected officials like you, I feel at ease knowing that the future for digital asset innovation in America is very bright," he said.

The former official's exit comes at a particularly awkward time for the crypto policy of the administration.

In particular, the CLARITY Act, which aims to create an all-encompassing federal regulatory framework for digital assets, recently failed in the Senate.
